Herbalism - The basics.

Over the past couple weeks I have been working on an herbalism and alchemy system.  Let's go over the basics that will help describe things to look for and how they interact.  This will likely be a multi-part post.

Ghoststem – Found most often in graveyards and other places touched by death, Ghoststem is a fragile, pale herb prized for its natural healing properties. It is commonly used in simple tonics and poultices by villagers and travelers alike. Despite its usefulness, many believe the plant feeds on the remnants of life left behind—an unsettling thought that keeps all but the desperate from harvesting it at night.

Roseveil – Where people gather, Roseveil follows. This soft, resilient herb grows along roads, in camps, and near settlements, thriving in places rich with thought and conversation. Known for restoring mental stamina, it is often used to regain focus and clarity. Some say it draws subtle energy from passing minds—an exchange few ever notice.

Sage’s Focus – Found in calm fields and undisturbed clearings, Sage’s Focus is a subtle herb with little immediate effect. When used alongside others, it causes their properties to linger, unfolding slowly over time instead of fading quickly. It is said the plant does not enhance power, but preserves it—holding effects in place longer than they should naturally last.

Scarlet Crown – Where bravery is tested, Scarlet Crown takes root. This striking herb grows in old battlefields and arenas, thriving in soil marked by struggle and resolve. Valued by gladiators and healers alike, it is known to fortify the body in moments of strain, pushing it past natural limits. It is said the plant draws strength from acts of courage long since spent.

Witchbell – This small, bell-shaped herb is known for drawing out the untapped potential of any brew it touches. On its own it offers little, but when combined with other ingredients it can push their effects beyond expected limits. Such mixtures are often stronger, though rarely consistent—making it a favored choice for those willing to risk uncertainty to make the most of what they have.
